"then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Have you ever looked at your circumstances and asked, "How can I possibly make it through this?" Maybe you are currently or you’ve faced overwhelming odds, disappointing news, or fiery darts of doubts are trying extinguishing your faith. But Romans 8:31 asks us to pause and redirect our thoughts and focus—not toward what’s against us, but toward who is for us.
Let that truth settle in your spirit by saying out loud: God. Is. For. Me.
Apostle Paul writes this after listing in the previous verses "these things"...hardship, persecution, suffering, and spiritual opposition. And yet, he anchors everything with this bold truth:God is on your side.
How can this encourage you today? This scripture reminds you that God is not indifferent to your pain. He’s not far off in your struggle. He’s for you. He has invested in your victory by the sacrice of His Son, Jesus the Christ! He committed to your good because of your in Jesus as your Savior and Lord, and Jesus, the Chief Intercessor is fighting unseen battles on your behalf.
However, his doesn’t mean trials won’t come. It means trials can’t win. They are spiritual exams that results in your spiritual growth in your faith as you trust God. What you're facing is real—but God is greater. What’s against you may be loud—but God speaks louder and definitely more powerful with all authority. When you remember who’s for you, fear loses its grip.
This verse isn’t just a spiritual cliché. It’s a declaration of divine backing. The Apostle Paul wasn't minimizing trials—he’s magnifying a God’s perspective. “These things” in Romans 8 refer to hardships, persecution, lack, even death. Yet Paul reminds us: God's presence outweighs every opposition.
When God is for you:
Your identity is secure. You're not defined by what others say or what you've been through.
Your purpose is protected. No scheme, no enemy, no delay can cancel God’s plan for your life.
Your victory is certain. Even if it doesn't look like it yet, you're not fighting for victory—you're standing in it.
So what do we say in response to the hard things--the betrayals, the loss, the fear?
We say: "God is for me."We say: "I may be pressed, but I’m not crushed."We say: "No weapon formed against me shall prosper."We say: "I am more than a conqueror."
Romans 8:31 invites you to live with a bold, unwavering confidence. Not in your ability, but in His authority. Not in your resources, but in His faithfulness.
Let this be your declaration today:"God is for me, and that’s more than enough."
